BlocksLab: a multimedia laboratory for girls and boys, developed by the CID, part of the Fondazione Informatica per la Promozione della Persona Disabile (FIPPD)
(authors: Gabriele Scascighini, Salvatore Uras)
As we all remember, the games that mostly accompanied us during our growth, for countless hours of fun which was never enough, were open games like construction and drawing. This happens because owning beautiful toys is a pleasure, but it’s not a lasting desire. Instead, the pleasure of creating and shaping our inner world can be a lifelong one, in its different forms.

The increasing diffusion of computer systems in schools, even in the most specialized in the treatment of disability, has led to the emergence of some fundamental questions such as: Can we promote the renewal of teaching, making it less boring and routinary, using software that allows learning through activities of manipulation, playing, exploration? Moreover, will such software become just a simple projection of computer tools such as paper, pencils, colors, or will it rather become an innovative aid intended to give a deeper meaning to individualisation and encourage the development of new concepts and environments, promoting with equal rights the development of linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial and bodily potentials in individuals of each social nuance, such as children with disabilities?

Inspired by the dictates of constructivist pedagogy, which is based on the concepts of mental representation, action, experimentation and active exploration by the individual, 'BlocksLab' can perhaps help find the answers to these questions.
This site will allow you to be informed, to share your opinions and also to directly purchase the product.

The BlocksLab project was made possible thanks to Onelife Advisor SA.
